If you are enrolled in LIHEAP, that’s not a problem! You will still be able to take advantage of your full credit. However, please know that once you are connected to a Community Solar project your LIHEAP credit will be spread out over a few months rather than applying as one large credit to one statement.
Your local utility will apply the LIHEAP credit towards your net utility charges. Because you are receiving solar savings each month, your net charges are less than they would have been without Community Solar. Once your utility bill is issued for the month, you will still receive 5% of the solar savings and the remaining solar savings are allocated towards maintaining and operating the local solar project. Any LIHEAP credit not used that month will roll over to your next utility bill until the credit is completely depleted.
Members in Maryland with Pepco, Delmarva, or BG&E as their electric utility can participate in Community Solar with Arcadia in compliance with the Maryland Public Service Commission, who can be reached at (800) 492-0474.
Members in Maryland with BGE and Pepco can participate in our Dual Billing program. Learn more about Dual Billing here.
