How is My Bill Calculated with Community Solar in New York?

Each Community Solar subscriber receives a portion of the savings generated by their local project. Once the projects start to generate energy, you will start to see those savings reflected on your Arcadia statement.

Your portion of the solar savings will be applied to your local utility bill and you will see a reduction in your overall utility charges. When your Arcadia statement is calculated, no less than 5%* of those solar savings are credited to your overall utility charges.

The remaining solar savings are allocated towards maintaining and operating the local solar project.

For your reference, we’ve put together a few example statements from participating utilities with active projects so you can see how your savings will apply:

National Grid NY

• Due to the application of the $72.50 Community Solar credit to your utility bill, the displayed amount for your current utility charges was reduced to $117.79.
• Your total utility charges for this month before the application of the Community Solar credit were $190.29. 
• You keep 5% of the $72.50 Community Solar credit, so $3.62 will be your savings for the month.

Arcadia statement you receive: $190.29 - $3.62 = $186.67

NYSEG

• Due to the application of the $84.36 Community Solar credit to your utility bill, the displayed amount for your current utility charges was reduced to $133.38.
• Your total utility charges for this month before the application of the Community Solar credit were $217.74. 
• You keep 5% of the $84.36 Community Solar credit, so $4.22 will be your savings for the month.

Arcadia statement you receive: $217.74 - $4.22 = $213.52

RG&E

• Due to the application of the $86.47 Community Solar credit to your utility bill, the displayed amount for your current utility charges was reduced to $136.25.
• Your total utility charges for this month before the application of the Community Solar credit were $222.72. 
• You keep 5% of the $86.47 Community Solar credit, so $4.32 will be your savings for the month.

Arcadia statement you receive: $222.72 - $4.32 = $218.40

ConEd

• Due to the application of the $74.99 Community Solar credit to your utility bill, the displayed amount for your current utility charges was reduced to $33.93.
• Your total utility charges for this month before the application of the Community Solar credit were $108.92. 
• You keep 10% of the $74.99 Community Solar credit, so $7.50 will be your savings for the month.
• Arcadia statement you receive: $108.92 - $7.50 = $101.42

Central Hudson 

• Due to the application of the $198.51  Community Solar credit to your utility bill, the displayed amount for your current utility charges was reduced to $367.79.
• Your total utility charges for this month before the application of the Community Solar credit were $566.30. 
• You keep 10% of the $198.51  Community Solar credit, so $19.85  will be your savings for the month.
• Arcadia statement you receive: $565.30 - $19.85 = $546.45

Orange and Rockland 

Customers will receive no less than 5% of their solar savings.
