In most cases, utilities add third party supply charges on top of an existing budget billing amount. This means that switching to a third party supplier through the Smart Rate program may result in higher bills in the short term until your utility adjusts your budget billing amount. For this reason, utility accounts enrolled in budget billing are not eligible for our Smart Rate program.
If you would like to take advantage of our Smart Rate program, we recommend canceling your budget billing plan to ensure you start to see savings on your statement.
Please be aware, canceling budget billing with your utility may result in an additional credit or charge on your next month's utility bill depending on your actual energy charges while you've been enrolled in budget billing.
