Arcadia is pleased to announce that members with National Grid NY or Central Hudson as their utility are eligible for a new and easier community solar experience that comes with the same guaranteed monthly savings as our previous program. Below are answers to frequently asked questions about Community Solar and how the program applies to National Grid NY and Central Hudson Members.
Am I eligible to enroll in Community Solar?
Community Solar is available to renters and homeowners with eligible utilities in New York. To participate in Community Solar with Arcadia, members must create an account and successfully connect their online utility profile with National Grid NY or Central Hudson to their Arcadia account. Unlike other utilities in New York, members with National Grid NY or Central Hudson will continue to receive and pay their utility bills directly to their utility once they’re enrolled. Once connected to a project, members will start to see the savings applied directly to their utility bill.
After enrolling, eligibility for our Community Solar program in New York is dependent on various factors, including your electric utility, zip code, and electricity rate class. If you have any of the following electric utilities and have questions regarding your eligibility, please feel free to contact our Member Experience team.
How does Community Solar work?
Once we connect you to a local Community Solar project and that project starts producing energy, you will start seeing savings on your bill every month for as long as you are with us, for the determined term length of the project. All Community Solar projects are remote, meaning that there is no installation necessary on your own home. The energy produced is sent back to the local grid.
There is no cost to join and once you’re connected to a project, you’ll start to see solar savings applied to your utility bills each month.
Each Arcadia member participating in the program will receive a percentage of the solar savings that are generated by their panel subscription, and the remaining savings generated will be used to maintain and continue the project.
- Central Hudson members receive 10% solar savings
- Term length: 25 years
- National Grid NY members receive 5% solar savings
- Term length: 20-25 years
How is My Bill Calculated with Community Solar?
Each Community Solar subscriber receives a portion of the savings generated by their local project. Once the projects start to generate energy, you will start to see those savings reflected on your utility bill. Your portion of the solar savings will be applied to your local utility bill and you will see a reduction in your overall utility charges.
How does Budget Billing work with Community Solar?
New members enrolled with National Grid NY and Central Hudson can remain on budget billing while taking advantage of Community Solar savings.
How do I cancel my account when I have Community Solar?
If you would like to cancel your Arcadia membership and discontinue your Community Solar savings, you will simply need to contact our Member Experience team at support@arcadia.com. You can also reach out to us by phone at (866) 526-0083 between 9am and 5pm EST, Mondays through Fridays.
Once we receive your email, we will need to remove your subscription from the project. Please know that this requires action from your utility company and it will take 90 days for them to fully process your cancellation.
During that period, you will still receive the solar savings on your utility bill. After that 90 day period, you will no longer receive solar savings and will get a statement directly from your local utility company.
Moving?
If you are moving, be sure to reach out to support@arcadia.com so we can transfer your account. Depending on your new utility, we’ll do our best to enroll you in a new Community Solar project as soon as possible.
